CHAPTER

My pitas page

One particular monday there was a loud crash and a cry from the bakery as Sandra approached. Out ran a small black dog all curly and covered in cake.He was closely followed by a cat who was followed by Mr.Sanders. The cat was Mitzy and by this stage she was all wet from the hose Mr.Sanders had put on her , and quite unimpressed. It seems a stray dog ,a tiny black poodle that came round of an evening to snack on off cuts of cake had caught the eye of the chinchillas..and they werent happy.

Ordinarily one might wake to the sun streaming in on their face , or the soft sigh of their loved one rolling over , but for Sandra it was the familiar groan and brush of curly hair that was her true love...Henry. Henry came into sandra's life in a most unusual way , the way a dog wouldnt usually come. Sandra had a weakness for chocolate cake a weakness it seems Henry shared too. There was a bakery only two blocks away from emu lane where Sandra would often take a detour after work. Mr. Sanders, a fabulous baker and owner of Mitzy and Shinders, two very beautiful but very spiteful chinchillas made the best chocolate mud cake in the world. He would always have one waiting at 6pm on monday evening , when sandra would drop round and pick it up.

Chapter 1 'Haydays'
'How long can one line at a supermarket possibly be'.For Sandra you can bet it would be the longest it ever has. Things of this nature, lines , car tyres going flat ,the dog being sick in the car seemed to greet her at every turn. It wasnt that sandra was particularly clumsy or that she had the ability to turn a simple task into somewhat of an oddysey it always just seemed to happen that way. 'German shepherd..Rotweiler maybe'thought Sandra as she stared at the long bearded man in front of her , six cans of dog food petruding from his arm. She looked down at the contents of her basket , a red ball sat squashed under some muffins and a pint of milk. Her watch read 6:45 , it would take ten minutes to drive back to her practice by which time Jan ,the veterinary nurse ,come secretary come whatever else she needed to be at the time would be locking up. The ball was a special delivery to a snauser whos owner had left some meat defrosting on his kitchen bench .'Sue Sue' it seemed had not realised the repercussions of half a dozen frozen sausages and had earned herself a rather nasty case of bloating. The ball was more of an aid than a gift, designed to get her up and moving-the practice usually had a supply but as Sandra gave away the little balls and blankets that made her patients stay more comfortable, stocks were low. Usually Sandra would be home by now tending to her own four legged friends, but it was this kind of love for what she did that made it more like a way of life than a job. And as the only veterinarian in Hayton ,The Emulane Clinic saw more than its share of Sue Sue's all of which Sandra grew rather fond of.All left behind a story which was bound to be remembered...and bound to be retold.
